Tastebuds - A Broad Perspective

I recently got back from a weekend in Scotland where I tasted some of the local cuisine (not haggis or blood sausage though).  I didn't actually take any pictures of where we ate (except one, extra special place) so I'll just tell you where to check out!

1.  The first night we were there we went to a cheap place called Mosque Kitchen for some Indian food.  I got curry chicken, sag, garlic naan and baclawa for under 10 pounds- it was great!
2.  The second day we went to The Elephant House which was on my must see/do list for Edinburgh.  for those of you who aren't as big of geeks as I am, The Elephant House is where JK Rowling wrote sections of the first two Harry Potter books- so it's a natural pilgrimage for any obsessive Harry Potter fan!  I got a yummy quick lorraine with an Italian coffee, an Affogato (essentially a shot of espresso poured over vanilla gelato).

3.  That evening we stopped in Edinburgh oldest pub, The White Hart for some pub grub and cidres before hitting up the Tattoo at the castle.
4. The next day (Saturday) we had dinner at a great (and cheap) pasty place called The Piemaker.  I got around 3 pasties for under 5 pounds, how great is that?!  We also stopped in a pub called The Royal Oak on a tip from a professor on the trip.  It was tiny but had three live folk musicians playing in the corner of the room- it was a very intimate, crowded place but it had a great atmosphere!

Food from the weekend, nomnomnom!!!

A ham and brie toastie from a restaurant in Bath called The Bridge Cafe
A scoop of honeycomb ice cream and a scoop of blackcurrent ice cream

Today we went on a picnic and got lots of yummy food from the local market.  Here's some pics of the breach, cheese, fruit and wine we had for lunch today :)

So I've been eating a lot of awesome food on this trip but I'm usually either done or too busy stuffing my fact to take a picture of all the yummy food.  Today, however, I actually took some pictures of the scones and tea I got in The Orchard.  I got a cheese scone with blackberry jelly. The salty scone tasted really good with the sweet jelly.  I also got a pot of mint tea because it's my favorite, I could probably drink a gallon of mint tea every day!
